The World in Black and White
Ansel Adams, Cartier Bresson, Sebastiao Salgado, and Albert Watson are a few of the master photographers who expressed their creative vision in black and white. When we shoot in black and white, we choose to shoot differently. The parameters of a world without color forces a photographer to use his/her photographic muscles of the eye - to stretch and push the limits of the camera in unexpected ways. Light becomes even more important because there is no distraction with color. Texture, contrast, lines and even emotions give the photographer a stronger connection to the subject. Without color, we can experience a deeper connection and focus on the inter-relationship between light and dark.
