Polar Bears
Polar bears are found in the frozen wilds of the Arctic in Canada, Greenland Svalbard, Russia and Alaska. Their biggest threat (besides human hunters) is shrinking ice. They are marine mammals and their life is inextricably tide to the sea ice and to the abundant world that blooms and swims beneath it. The Kings of the north are very strong swimmers, and their large front paws, which they use to paddle, are slightly webbed. Some polar bears have been seen swimming hundreds of miles from land—though they probably cover most of that distance by floating on sheets of ice.
