Botswana is a landlocked country in southern Africa. It is bordered to the south and southeast by South Africa, Namibia to the west and north, Zambia to the north, and Zimbabwe to the northeast. Botswana is the size of France but has a population of roughly 2.4 million people. It is a nation-state of the Tswana people who make up approximately 70 percent of the population. It is one of Africa's most stable countries and is the continent's longest continuous multi-oarty democracy. It is relatively free of corruption and has an excellent record of human rights. Botswana is topographically flat, with roughly 70 percent of its territory being the Kalahari Desert. it is known for its diverse landscapes and wealth of wildlife. From the winding waterways of the Okavango Delta to the meerkats of the Kalahari, Botswana remains wild. It is home to one sixth of the world's elephant population and is home to many African wild dogs. it is one of the best places in the world to see them.
